Our instructors at 'Dancing in the Village' have had years of experience preparing couples for their special day. But to make sure we give our couples what they envision, we would encourage all of our couples to think about a few things before their introductory lesson:
For friends and family in the wedding party, we can also arrange group classes! Prices depend on the number of people in the class and the number of sessions scheduled...contact us for more details!
Learning to dance will last a lifetime and many couples who learn to dance for their wedding come to discover a hobby that they can share even after all of their guests have gone home.
Our instructors at 'Dancing in the Village' have had years of experience preparing couples for their special day. But to make sure we give our couples what they envision, we would encourage all of our couples to think about a few things before their introductory lesson:
- Your style as a couple... Not everyone is suited to do a traditional slow waltz for their first dance. If your wedding is on the traditional side, a slow dance may be a good fit. But for semi-formal weddings, a faster dance may be more your style. The best way to 'shop around' is to check out YouTube and get a sense of which direction is best. Many couples enjoy going outside of the box and doing a dramatic Tango or even a flirty Cha Cha.
- A first dance song... Try to find a song that is special to you. If you have a few in mind, we can help you choose the one best suited for dancing. After your first intro lesson, we can edit your song's length or tempo to make your first dance as comfortable as possible.
- Level of extravagance... Some couples want to simply get comfortable with the basics and some want to 'wow' their guests with a fully choreographed dance number. Think about your preference and how much time you can put into learning. We suggest most couples start their lessons at least 4 months before their wedding. Whatever your desire, we can create it.
- Reception dancing... The first dance isn't the only dancing wedding couples might want to learn for their big day. For those interested in learning to social dance for the reception, we can include that too! Learning to dance is an investment that you'll have even after the wedding day...you can enjoy it on your honeymoon and for years to come.
- Mother/Son & Father/Daughter dances... Learn to dance with your parents for their time on the dance floor. Again, look for a few songs that speaks to you and we can help you decide!
